Are hurricanes bad for the environment?
Hurricanes can be catastrophic in many ways. They can hurt people and cause damage to buildings. The strong winds can tear down trees and flooding can get rivers and water sources dirty with trash and chemicals. Hurricanes can also harm certain animals. For instance, strong waves can kill fish. However, other animals and plant life can benefit from hurricanes. Some plants use the rain and wind to grow and spread their seeds. Animals like raccoons have a feast on all of the trash and fish left out after hurricanes. How hurricanes form and the impact they have can be both interesting and complicated.
